Pasta, the most staple food in Italian Cuisine is loved by many. However, how many of us know the history of pasta? Did you know that the 1st mention of pasta dates back to the "Tabula Rogeriana" (one of the most detailed pre-modern world maps) by Arabian Cartographer Muhammad Al-Idrisi in the year 1154 referring to the town of Trabia - Sicily?

1. Pasta pronounced as Pah-stuh is the Italian word for dough. Moreover, the dough contains Flour, water, salt and eggs.
2. Types of pasta:
There are more than 600 varieties of pasta worldwide!! Some common pasta shapes are Fusilli, Gometi, Gemelli, Ruote, Penne, Farfalle and spaghetti.
3. As a matter of fact, there are two types of pasta.
- Fresh Pasta (PASTA FRESCA) with delicate texture and
- Dried Pasta (PASTA SECCA) with a firm texture

7. Further, pasta is best cooked to AL DENTE "To the Tooth" which means firm yet tender when eaten.
8. The ingredients of a basic pasta dish are cherry tomatoes, Parmesan cheese, garlic, basil leaves, shallots, Olives and Olive Oil.
