A Visit to Knead by Moshe Shek, Vegeterian Café & Cooking Studio In Kala Ghoda, Mumbai
I remember dancing away at Athena as a wide-eyed youngster. Subsequently, quieter conversations over coffee along with fresh bakes at Café Moshe's replaced date nights at Basilico (Bandra). However, one thing remained unchanged. My love for simple, earthy delicious fare served by Chef Moshe Shek. With Knead, an all vegetarian & cooking studio, Chef Moshe returns to the Mumbai culinary scene. We decided to head here one lazy afternoon to try the offerings. Did we like it? Well, read through our experience of the newly opened Knead by Moshe Shek, vegeterian café & cooking studio in Kala Ghoda, Mumbai.

Knead is a spacious offering, highlighted with simple stylish elements. Grey windows dressed in simple furnishings to let sunlight in. A huge fan & an old typewriter are placed in cozy corners.

Moreover, traditional & modern kitchen equipment mingle with pots & pans in the outer dining space. The inner area hosts window-side tables that can accommodate larger as well as cozy groups.

With only eggs in the menu, the all vegetarian menu packs a huge variety. Furthermore, one can choose from soups, homemade wraps, small plates, sandwiches. open toasts & pies, fresh salads, main course- risotto, pasta, couscous preparation. However, do try the delicious section dedicated to houmous & spreads. Pair your delicious eats with smoothies, fresh juices & fruit sodas.
Looking to enjoy quiet conversations? Settle down with a pot of tea that comes in a variety of flavors like chamomile whole flowers, Earl grey with bergamot, Moroccan mint and much more. In addition, a small roastery brews fresh coffee from beans sourced from South of India.
We tried houmous with added flavors of spicy miso aubergine. Served with fresh pita bread, the quantity was sufficient to share. However, we did call for an extra pita bread to polish off the delicious houmous.

Next, we tried the Rigatoni pasta served with roasted mushrooms & potato straws in pimiento sauce. Tasty & filling, the pasta was served with two warm homemade slices of bread.

Settled by a window-side table, overlooking a quiet street we ordered the in-house blend coffee. Aromatic & delicious, the coffee is served in a French press with milk on the side.
Next, the delicious dessert spread at the counter vied for attention. Think New York cheesecake. cream cheese brownies, baklava, carrot cakes & more. Because of this, I walked over to make my choice of indulgence. Fresh plum cake served warm with a scoop of ice cream on the side.

In the end, it was an afternoon well spent. Simple. Casual. Easy. Just like how Chef Moshe Shek wants his new café to be! After dining, do check an array of homemade treats like jams, sauces, dips & fresh breads to take back home.
