Raw Mango Chutney Kerala Style Recipe
As the summer heat reaches its pinnacle, we all crave to enjoy mangoes, the king of fruits. As the ripe variety hits the market, raw mangoes somehow take a backseat. Although, popular in making pickles, raw mangoes can also be easily made into other culinary delights. Additionally, raw mango contains Vitamin A, C and E that is highly beneficial for us. Apart from delicacies like Aam Dal, Aam Panna & more, kachha aam or raw mangoes can be used to make a delicious chutney. Also known as Pacha Manga Chammanthi, this is a popular south Indian chutney recipe. Made with tangy raw mangoes & grated coconut, it is a popular side dish in Kerala
Here is an easy recipe to make raw mango chutney Kerala style:
Ingredients:
- 1/2 peeled green mango (can use washed & unpeeled mango too)
- 2-3 sliced shallots
- 3/4 th cup grated coconut
- 2 red chilies soaked in water for 10-15 mins
- small piece ginger
- 1/4 th tsp fenugreek seed
- Salt as per taste (we recommend to add only a small quantity)
- 1 tbsp edible coconut oil
- Chop raw mango into medium sized pieces.
- Now add sliced shallots, grated coconut & all other ingredients except salt to a mixer & grind. However, try to not add any water to the mixture.
- Taste the chutney & add salt as per requirement. Add little water if it is too thick.
- Remove the raw mango chutney into a bowl. Top with edible coconut oil to bring out the flavors.
- Serve with rotis or steamed rice.
