Beau Vallon, one of the most visited beach in Mahé, Seychelles is known for gorgeous sunset views, clear waters that offer unlimited opportunity for swimming/snorkeling and lazing under gently swaying palm trees. Beau Vallon is located in the north western coast of Mahé. Also known for Bazaar Labrin - a weekly Wednesday market, frequented by locals and tourist alike, Beau Vallon is a must visit during your trip to Seychelles.

Located right on the beach, the Wednesday market offers a variety of local produce like seafood, fruits- do sample the local popular fruit- breadfruit as is or enjoy freshly made crispy chips, spices, local drinks, flavors of chutneys packed in glass bottles, crafts and souvenirs amidst peppy background music.

One can also indulge in handcrafted mocktails, cocktails, juices and local cuisine available in stalls. Choose freshly made seafood offerings like octopus curry or a variety of grilled fish made over barbecues with generous portion of rice. We chose to settle down with grilled portions of parrot fish and local Seybrew beer. The beach has many tables and comfortable seating options in form of tree stumps or one can just settle on the beach and listen to the gentle sounds of waves or live music.

 

Just before sunset is the best time for visiting the Wednesday Market at Beau Vallon when it is in full swing. Around 8 pm watch out for performances by local groups that shall leave you enthralled. During our visit, we witnessed a group of performers beating a drum with locals and even tourists moving to the rhythm.

Timings:

Wednesday evenings from 4:00 p.m. till 9:00 p.m. We saw a few stalls selling food operating till 11 pm.
