Review - Magic Of Morocco Food Festival at Pondichéry Café
It's a known fact that the best way to relish food in Morocco is to eat with locals or at someone's home. Want to dig into Moroccan delights closer home? Head to Sofitel Mumbai BKC, to indulge in a treat.
Why? Because, Pondichéry Café at Sofitel Mumbai BKC is hosting a food festival that celebrates culinary delicacies from the mystic land of Morocco.
Flying in all the way from the Pullman Marrakech Palmeraie Resort & Spa, Chefs Monabbih Mohamed Amine and Bouhmad Mohamed will have curated a feast that feature authentic Moroccan delicacies. Dig into delicious salads, Tagines (slow-cooked savory stews, usually made with meat, poultry, fish or vegetables), tomato rice, dips/spreads and exotic desserts.
We started with traditional Moroccan eggplant salad made with cooked eggplant, tomato, paprika, cumin and olive oil. Mderbel of pumpkin- a traditional cooked salad lightly flavored with cinnamon was a delight! If, we could we would feast on these two salads for lunch!
For mains we tried a variety of vegetarian and non-vegetarian Tagines- Fish Tagine (slow cooked stew made with Grouper fish and vegetables), Chicken Tagine with Lemon Confit (a type of preserved lemons) and Tangia Marrakchia With Lamb (slow cooked melt-in-the-mouth tender lamb stew) with a mild cumin flavor.
Vegetarians can try Potato Tagine- a simple and delicious stew made with potato and spices and Vegetable Tagine - slow cooked stew made with select vegetables and generous amounts of cinnamon.
Pair the Tagines with flavorful Tomato Rice or Moroccan flat breads to complete your experience.
For desserts, we tried the crunchy and sweet Milk Bastilla- rounds of crispy pastry, layered into a stack, topped with slivered almonds and a rose water flavored custard sauce.
If you love trying international flavors along with unique taste of exotic Moroccan cuisine, do not miss this!
