Homemade Iced Teas To Beat The Heat
Imagine taking a sip of delicious cold ice tea on a hot day. The crackling ice provides respite from the heat and the delicious ice tea flavor refreshes instantly! A famous quote says "When life gives you lemons, put them in your iced teas". But there is so much more you can add to your favorite brew to elevate flavor levels. Homemade iced teas are one of the best ways to beat the heat.
Start by brewing basic iced tea and than add herbs, fruit juices or syrups as per choice. All you need is a cold iced tea pitcher and some imagination :D. Use black or green tea as per choice.
To make basic ice tea:
Steep two tea bags (or 2 spoons of loose black/green tea) in four cups of hot water for 3-5 minutes depending on how you like your tea- strong or light. Discard the tea bags. Add simple syrup (made with equal parts or sugar and water, heated till sugar dissolves) and stir. Refrigerate till serving. Remember to add flavors only to cooled iced tea to avoid unwanted bitterness.
