Getaway to Double Tree By Hilton Pune, Chinchwad
Many a times, I wonder that if I can choose to be anywhere...why do I end up being at the same place? Sometimes this thought prompts me to get up, pack & embark on a getaway. Not too far from home as I only have the weekend to realize my getaway adventure. One such day, itching to travel, I decided to enjoy a getaway at Double Tree By Hilton Pune, Chinchwad to unwind, rejuvenate & relax.
A warm welcome on check in at Double Tree By Hilton Pune with a freshly baked cookie was a delicious treat. I checked into my suite with an impressive separate living area, my sanctuary for the weekend & ordered some hot masala chai & pancakes to douse my post Mumbai-Chinchwad hunger pangs. Pro Tip: Start early from Mumbai as the expressway attracts heavy traffic on some weekends. Refreshed, I walked around the spacious suite to notice the amenities- free WiFi, coffee & tea maker, mini bar, two luxurious bathrooms & a work desk.
Lunch time attracted me to 3 spices- the all day dining restaurant with a well stocked bar that serves a delicious blend of Indian, Asian & Continental cuisine.
Though a delectable buffet attracted us, we chose signature dishes from the a la carte menu- Komdi cha rassa (Maharashtra style chicken curry - click here for the recipe) paired with Indian breads, some Khao Phad (Thai Fried Rice) & finished off with a delicious dessert platter that included the signature dessert "Green tea cheesecake". The restaurant is spacious with an alfresco area & hosts lavish Sunday brunches with live stations & kids activities.
The food lulled me into a lazy afternoon siesta & I woke up just in time for my spa & salon appointment at Aristo Spa. Do read about my experience at the spa here.
The guests also have access to a beautifully furnished Executive Lounge Area that serves select beverages & delectable snacks in the evening. The two attached meeting rooms offer work privacy to guests. I dropped in to enjoy a glass of wine & settled on a beautiful couch against the backdrop of Pune skyline.
Dinner was enjoyed under twinkling stars at the rooftop resto lounge- Level 12 relishing North Indian cuisine favorites. The well stocked bar serves international & domestic liquors, cocktails, mocktails & other beverages. The music is good & a cool breeze keeps you company as you dine under the stars.
We tried Waterless Golgappa, a delicious one bite street snack served without the tangy mint-coriander water, Palak Patta Chaat- a deconstructed deep fried palak (spinach) leaves chaat, Chef's selection of assorted non veg kebab platter for starters. The starters were quickly polished off with a Martini & Mojito to pair summer vibes. For main course do try the 12 ki Daal - a must try signature lentil preparation paired with Biryanis or Indian breads from the menu. The lounge is open everyday from 7 pm to 11pm.
The next day I woke up late to savor lazy Sunday vibes. I was looking forward to try an authentic Japanese dining experience at Miyuki. The restaurant is a cozy space with intimate seating & comfortable vibes.
A new Japanese breakfast menu has been launched recently & sunday was the perfect time to relish it!! The breakfast set tray offers Tamago Yaki (Japanese sweet omlette), Gohan (steam rice), Miso Shiro (white miso soup), Kyuri Ziko (cucmber pickle), Noori Strips, Shake Shio Yaki (grilled salmon with Salt and Pepper) & Tori Nimono (simmered chicken with skin)
We started with the Yaki Hasan platter consisting of Hiya Yakko (chilled tofu), Edamame (young soya bean), Tako Wasabi (Octopus pickle), Ni Tamago (soft boiled egg marinated with soya, garlic & ginger) & Yaki Zakana miso (overnight marinated fish in miso sauce). The portions are apt for a single person & the platter offers a great variety.
Next we tried two types of Sushi rolls- Asparagus Philadelphia Roll (asparagus & cream cheese roll) & California roll (sushi roll with crab stick, cucumber & avocado garnished with flying fish roe). Kakuni (Khagosima style simmered pork belly) was an absolute favorite. The softness of the pork belly can be attributed to the fact that the Chefs at Miyuki slow simmer it for 48 hours. Guests can also order Bento boxes for take away.
If at times all what you need is a full gas tank, some music & a quick getaway.....experience modern luxury at Double Tree By Hilton Pune. The hotel offers award winning cuisine, spacious rooms, spa & salon services, 24 X7 fitness center, outdoor pool, meeting rooms & banquet facilities.
The Food Studio- a creative area that brings together creative dining & lounge space is a great option to host impressive events. Located nearby to many entertainment & shopping centers, Double Tree By Hilton Pune beckons you to unwind in one of 115 spacious guest rooms including six suites and one Presidential suite. Take your pick :D
