Review: Luna Nudo Gusta,The St. Regis Mumbai's Newest Bar & Restaurant

The first thing you notice as you step into the latest bar and restaurant of The St. Regis, Mumbai is classic opulent European luxury- beautifully set tables, polished silverware, gold chandeliers, luxuriant wallpaper and deep, comfortable chairs. The newly opened, modern European restaurant and lounge bar. located at a dreamy sky-high level 37 of The St. Regis serves European cuisine enveloped in modern flavors. Named to represent the alluring energy of the moon that controls the movement of tides, Luna Nudo Gusta changes its mood, ambience and energy between a fine dine restaurant and a pulsating bar and lounge as the day changes into night. The menu crafted by Chef Martin Kindleside brings European flavours to the fore while the ambience soothes your craving for a high-energy escapade or a more relaxing atmosphere depending on your mood!



Located across two levels, the luxurious space offers guests the choice to enjoy live music at the bar that offers domestic and international liquors with a varied choice of in-house infusions or to ascend a dramatic spiral staircase to arrive at Luna Gusta- the fine dine restaurant. The bar also turns into a pulsating nightclub on weekend nights that features a in-house DJ.



We studied the cocktail menu that features dramatically presented cocktails named after various features of the moon. We tried "Personified Moon" and fell in love with the presentation even before we sipped the drink. Spice- infused bourbon gets flavoured with apple and maple, presented covered with a smoke filled decanter.....stuff dreams are made of, right?

The Margarita Delicioso- rightly named delicious cocktail made with jalapeño infused tequila, house-made mango puree was perfectly balanced with the pungent taste of jalapenos balancing the sweet mango flavor. But mango based cocktails...we wondered? A hearty chat with the bartender revealed that seasonal fruits like mango, strawberries and more are pureed and stocked away to be used later, so guests can enjoy them through the year....nice :)

Artisanal Burrata and Florentine Fennel salad had soft, fresh burrata served with citrus and fennel segments and lettuce flavoured with pomegranate molasses.

The next dish, Truffle infused charred corn polenta was an artistic twist to the comfort food we know! Creamy polenta, garnished with fried garlic and grilled yellow zucchini, flavored with the black truffle.

For the main course we tried Chilean Sea Bass- well done, flaky and served with crab butter sauce and Black Rice and Vegetable Ragout- made with black rice (often known as forbidden rice) with select vegetables and dominant tomato flavour- a must try dish for vegetarians.

The finale- Gusta's Cake for Two was a beautiful dense bitter chocolate raspberry cointreau cake was the ultimate finale! Presented by a dessert chef on your table the entire dessert ceremony had couple of guests join in the fun!

We decided to sit down at the bar downstairs for a nightcap before concluding our evening. As we chose a drink from the glowing menu at Luna Nudo, we stole a peek at the beautiful twinkling Mumbai skyline. Soothing live music, another beautifully crafted cocktail- Luna Roni (made with Jagermiester, gin and campari with citrus bitters) and luxurious ambience couple with superlative service- what else could one ask for?

Guests can also enjoy Appertivo hours at the bar from 4 pm till 8 pm that offers luxurious tipple at high-street prices. We are talking select craft beers, Jim Beam and more. Luna Nudo Gusta offers a perfect dining experience to guests coupled with an option to wind down at the bar or raise the energy level at the lounge.SO, go ahead and indulge...Luna has risen!
