Staycation At The Leela Mumbai
Sometimes a vacation from your normal routine is the only thing you need. So very true. But planning a vacation is a challenging exercise- tickets to be booked, accommodation to be selected, leave to be applied. You need a break from your break. So what to do? Wait, heard about Staycation? A fabulous holiday spent unwinding at nearby attractions. And we are attracted to 5 stars...so off Wicked Spoon Confessions went to The Leela Mumbai, a luxurious green haven spread across 11 acres in heart of commercial Mumbai. Here is how we enjoyed our luxury staycation at The Leela Mumbai.
After a warm welcome, we peeked at the stunning Maharaja Suite- ultimate luxury spread across 1475 sq. ft adorned with beautiful Indian artifacts, 24 hour room service, walk in closet, jacuzzi and grand furnishings. Wow!!
Next, we checked the suites- Deluxe & Executive, a smart choice for a business traveller. Simple and sophisticated, the suites have separate living, dining & bedroom area, small kitchenette, signature concierge services, complimentary breakfast & access to Royal club. Intrigued we checked out the royal club that offers choice of international food and beverages through the course of the day. The aroma of fresh coffee was inviting & we sat down to enjoy it with assorted cut fruits & cookies. With a spring in our step, we headed to our premiere pool view room that offered facilities like a work station, kingsize bed, minibar and twin massage showers.
The mattress was comfortable & inviting enough for us to steal a power nap before stepping down to Citrus, The Leela Mumbai's 24 hour lounge to enjoy a sumptuous buffet spread.
After lunch, we strolled to the poolside and passed cascading waterfalls & lush gardens- a delight for our tired city souls. The clock chimed 5 pm announcing our couple spa date at ESPA, that offers holistic & signature treatments with pure ingredients.
For dinner, we had chosen the Le Cirque Signature, a French-Italian culinary showcase of signature dishes & popular specialities. We arrived at the 8th floor and noticed a well stocked wine cellar, a kind that can make any wine connoisseur happy. The table setting was superb, the interiors sophisticated and impressive, the ambience perfect, the service extremely well informed & courteous and the menu delicious- a perfect formula for a special occasion.
We tried Truffle soup (Porcini puree, truffle puree & crostini tuile), Pecorino cheese creme brûlée (a savory custard made with pecorino cheese, red onion marmalade, balsamic reduction & served with flat bread), Lobster Panzerotti (Lobster emulsion & leek sauce), Paupiette (Chilean sea bass, potato crust, leek served with red wine sauce). We were already swooning but the desserts were still here to come- Pain Perdu (a french toast soaked in dark rum, honey ice cream & butterscotch puree), Baked Alaska (a delicious dessert made with vanilla ice cream & sponge cake in meringue covering) Le Cirque signature creme brûlée (traditional french custard)
The next morning, we lazed around till late (we were on a staycation, remember?) and ordered breakfast in bed- an ultimate dream of any vacationer.
Tea cup in hand we moved towards the floor to ceiling window & glimpsed at the inviting pool. A dip in the pool refreshed us and also reminded us that our staycation date was almost over...but not before we attended to the beseeching hunger pangs. The lobby lounge with views of the garden & pool was perfect for a light lunch before we bid our goodbyes. Elegantly done with bronze statues, polished marble floors and beautiful upholstery, it made us comfortable instantly.
