Review: An Evening Under Stars at Skky, Ramada Powai’s Signature Restro Lounge.
What You See-
"It’s nice to see pictures of dishes before you order”
chimed my friend. I nodded absently. He continued his banter. I kept nodding. I was too preoccupied gazing
with a faraway look at the clear sky. And I was in Mumbai. Intrigued? Read on

Step into the Al-fresco space at Skky and one sees a long
bar, open kitchen and comfortable seating. The bright red “Ramada” signage
glows in the dark. The setting is beautiful with water bodies, real plants lit
with colorful lights and candlelight placed on tables. The day we visited, the
entrance was twinkling with white fairy lights.

What You Get-
Most of the dishes fall into the pan-Asian category but there is a touch of Indian with tandoor items listed on the menu. Confused about what to eat? Just take your pick from the variety of pizzas. The bar menu lists cocktails, mocktails, beers, international and domestic liqueurs.
We started with a Singapore sling, which was high on taste
but low on the original scarlet color. On inquiring we were informed that the
difference is due to the clear color of cherry brandy.

Next came the refreshing
Mandarin mojito. Made with mandarin
juice, spiked with rum and garnished with mint leaves, the mojito will lift
your spirits (pun intended). Our
favorite of the evening was the passion fruit Vodkatini. Fresh passion fruit
muddled with vodka and served chilled in a martini glass, is a perfect stress
buster recipe.

We looked forward to the food as the drinks had made a
positive impression on us. For starters we tried the non-veg dimsum sampler, of
which we loved the prawn dimsum.

Next came the spicy tofu tomato chili garlic.
Silken tofu was stir fried with homemade tomato chili sauce and served hot.
Soft and appetizing, it was our pick of the evening.

The wasabi prawns had medium
sized prawns, deep-fried and topped with a drizzling of wasabi mayo. The
surprise element was presence of curry leaf.

The wok fried fragrant chicken,
that we tried next had chunks of spiced chicken tossed with garlic, peppers and
fragrant sauce.
We wanted something comforting for the main course and
settled happily with seafood fried rice and chicken in black bean sauce. The seafood
fried rice had generous bits of sea food and scallions and the chicken in black
bean sauce, is a Chinese classic that we loved.
For desserts, a scoop each of the
signature pan ice cream and dulce de leche made me swoon with pleasure.
We loved the pan ice cream, yum! |
The baked white chocolate & grand marnier cheesecake |
The
baked white chocolate and grand marnier cheesecake had a wonderful cream cheese
flavor enhanced by sweet balsamic reduction.
Wicked Spoon Confessions-
Ramada Powai’s signature restro lounge, Skky has most of the
elements to soothe those frayed nerves- soft music, unique décor, a huge screen
to watch your favorite game, muted candle light and good food. Dine under the
stars with a romantic date or a loved one. The place is expensive but worth for
an important occasion. The easy touch pad menu lists pictures of the dishes. Do
try the Pan Asian dishes, we liked what we devoured.
