Review: From breakfast bites to late night coffees and the in-betweens, Le Café a relaxed bistro has it covered
A long weekend brings joy and a question, “Where do
we Go?” Tired of crowded spots of Lonavala, we decided to use it to explore
dining options in various budgets in and around Chembur. The new wing of R City
Mall, Ghatkopar is brimming with outlets like Starbucks, TGIF, Rolling Pin, Le
Cafe and more.
They say nothing excites a woman like a sign that reads, “
50 % Sale”. I say, nothing excites a foodie more than the sign- “Happy Hours” to
indulge in pricey tipple or delicious treats. On one such long weekend, we spotted the happy sign
at Le Café and settled.
What You See-
Step into a minimalistic and small-relaxed bistro, which has
sofas and individual tables for dining. A large screen TV was tuned into a sports
events and a board announced the menu and the signature dishes.
Le Cafe- the relaxed interiors |
Just below the board, is the open service area
that has a billing counter, a few bottles of wine and desserts on display. Le
Café has another branch in the hotel named “Jewel of Chembur” that serves
similar dishes.
What you get
The menu consists of choice of eggs and Indian dishes for
breakfast, decent choice of soups and salads, sandwiches, wood fired pizza,
burgers, pasta, fondues and more. Quench your thirst with cocktails and
mocktails or enjoy a beer under “Happy Hours”. We settled for 2 plus 1 beer and chose
Budweiser. Though many beers were listed, the offer was not applicable on
brands like Miller or Kingfisher Ultra.
I scanned the appetizer section and was pleased to find
Braised Baby Lamb Chops priced at INR 300/-. Hot and drizzled with sour cream came,
the four chops were perfect for sharing. The presentation was lovely, the brown
sauce tasty but the meat was a little tough for my taste.

Next we ordered the Grilled chicken breast that came served
on a bed of mashed potatoes and grilled vegetables and tangy pepper sauce in a
gravy boat. Do try the dish as one hits a bull’s eye with its appealing
presentation, succulent meat and well-done mash. Priced at INR 450/- it’s a
good main course dish.
Grilled Chicken on a bed of mashed potatoes, Oh! so nice |
No culinary journey should end without dessert and Le Café
indulges you with a wide choice and buy one get one offer!!. We tried the Chocolate
Mud pie and Gluten free Chocolate Gooey.
The Mud Pie Goodness |
The Star Dessert- Chocolate Gooey!! |
The mud pie was a little dense but the
Gooey chocolate had the perfect crust. Slice the crust to reveal liquid
goodness of moist chocolate that blends with the vanilla ice cream placed on
top and taste a mouthful of heaven.
Verdict
A value for money restaurant, Le Café can be visited to tank
up before a night out or to quench thirst after shopping at R City Mall. The
place is small but the free Wi Fi will make sure you Instagram and Tweet the
yummy dishes right away. From breakfast
bites to late night coffees and the in-betweens, Le Café has it covered.
Parking is available at the mall. A special mention to the attentive service.
Since I was dining late, one of the servers accompanied me to show the way to
the washroom as it was at a distance. I am sure of returning to the place to
try a few more things, Will you?
