Review: The Great Wall at Leela Mumbai.
What
you see-
With its floor to ceiling windows, The Great Wall at Leela Mumbai that serves contemporary Chinese offers incredible views of a picturesque
garden and a waterfall that pours into a lotus pond. We descended an opulent marble staircase to reach the entrance flanked
by marble lions at the lower lobby level.
We stepped in to find an elegant bar on the left and tall vases with articulate patterns.
A smiling hostess guided us to our garden facing table and we were taken by the soothing sound of the outdoor waterfall. The restaurant enjoyed abundant natural light and relaxed us instantly.
The wooden furniture and interiors done in soothing colors were highlighted with paintings, large porcelain vases and artifacts.
What you get- The menu based on authentic Singaporean Chinese cuisine boasts of a wide array of vegetarian and non vegetarian starters, dim sums, soups, main course dishes made with lobsters, crabs, fish, poultry, lamb, rice and noodles preparations, limited selection of teas and mouth watering desserts. The bar menu has a wide variety of international and domestic liquors, martinis, vodka, cocktails, wines, beers, mocktails and juices.

We ordered a bottle of Sula Sauvignon Blanc wine. Served
chilled, the herbaceous wine tickled our taste buds with hints of green pepper. For starters we tried prawn and chicken dim sums, which came
steaming hot in a small bamboo steamer basket. The lightly flavored dip served
with the dim sums, made with light soy sauce, ginger
and rice vinegar was delicious.
For the main course we ordered, vegetable fried rice with white
mushrooms and black olives. Fragrant and delicious, the rice was good to be had
on its own. For gravy we tried seasonal greens like water chestnuts, broccoli,
pak choi and spring onions made in oyster sauce. Pods of garlic balanced the sweetness of the oyster
based gravy and we finished it in no time. To do justice to our visit, we
ordered the famous Singapore chili crab. Served with steamed Chinese buns, we
found the dish spiced just right and happily mopped up the sweet and spicy
tomato chili crab curry.

When you want to make a tiny kitchen appear larger, going all white is the way to go. White captures light, looks clean, and makes industrial furniture even the smallest spaces appear more open. And the all-white decor allows you to go darker with your floor tiles without overpowering the space
